It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Daniel Timothy Aitken, who entered the glory of Heaven on February 25, 2026, at the age of 74.
Dan was one of five children born to Joe and Carmen Aitken and grew up in St. Ann, Missouri. He was a proud graduate of Ritenour Senior High School, Class of 1970.
Dan is survived by his beloved wife and high school sweetheart of 58 years, married for 55 years, Marsha Aitken (Marsha Haake Aitken); three of his four siblings, Patricia, David, and Mary; five of his six children, Martin, Jonathan, Laura, Andrew, and Bonnie; and 13 precious grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; his oldest brother, Joseph Jr.; and his eldest son, Timothy, in 2017.
Dan proudly served as a Missile Technician in the United States Air Force. After marrying Marsha, they initially settled in Winfield, Kansas, before moving to Texas, Missouri, and finally Eldersburg, Maryland.
A carpenter by trade, Dan’s true passion was music. He was an accomplished musician and vocalist who played in numerous groups spanning many genres, including Folk, Bluegrass, Classic Rock, Religious, and even a German band, “Alpenlanders,” performing at many Oktoberfests — lederhosen and all! Dan released two CDs, A Carpenter’s Christmas and Ireland in Our Hearts, both under the name “Dan Aitken and Friends.” He also enjoyed a season playing bass for the “Colgan-Hirsh Band.” For many faithful years, he served as a singer and musician on the worship team at Carroll Community Church, now Life Point Church.
Daniel was a man of deep faith in God and believed wholeheartedly in the Bible. He was a kind, loving, and gentle husband, father, grandfather, brother, son, mentor, and friend to so many. The reach of his life was vast, but the depth of his love was even greater. His legacy will live on for generations in the hearts of those who loved and cherished him.
A Celebration of Life service honoring Dan will be held at Life Point Church, 1701 Emory Road, Reisterstown, MD 21136, on March 27, 2026. Family visitation will begin at 6:00 p.m., followed by the service at 7:00 p.m.
“I can’t wait to hear You say, ‘Well done.’”
